Are you and your bestie #BFFGoals?
Well, then you better get ready to celebrate your amazing friendship on Friday, June 8, because it’s *drum roll please* National Best Friend Day!
Sure, this may be one of those random days that has you asking, “who made this a holiday? Is it just one of those Instagram holidays?” I mean, maybe...but why not actually make a great day out of it? There is so much to do in D.C. with your best friend and you two deserve a day to celebrate each other and your special friendship.
If you’re not sure what to do that will be as awesome as your best friend, DC Refined has your back. We outlined different ways you and your best friend can celebrate, depending on your personalities and what you both love to do together!
FOR THE BOOZY BRUNCHER
Friday brunches should be more of a thing. Take the morning (or day) off of work on Friday and make your best gal (or guy) pal brunch! It’s a national holiday after all, so taking some time to eat good food, drink yummy mimosas and basking in all the best friend good vibes should be mandatory. If you're not sure how to throw a brunch that is both #InstagramGoals and #BFFGoals, we take you step-by-step here. Prefer to go out for breakfast, instead? Here are some must-try spots.
FOR THE SPORTS FAN
The Nationals are playing the Giants Friday night, and the first 25,000 attendees will get a Ryan Zimmerman "Ryanaissance" bobblehead. My roommate (who is also one of my best friends!) and I do some of our best bonding at Nats Park over beers and footlong hot dogs, so I highly recommend this. And if you can't make it to Friday's game, check out the Rosé All Gameday promotion happening on Saturday! We are giving away two tickets to the game on our Instagram page as well!
FOR THE HAPPY HOUR LOVER
National Best Friend Day falls on a Friday this year, which also happens to be THE day to go to happy hour in D.C. There are almost too many happy hour spots to pick from, but since it’s supposed to be beautiful out, I recommend hitting up one of these rooftops or patios. If you're hoping to toast to your bestie with a classy but cheap drink, here are 15 places to also get your drink on.
FOR THE ARTSY BESTIE
Do you and your bestie bring out the artists in each other? The Lemon Collective is offering an "Illustrating Food with Water Colors" class on Friday night for $20. Sign up here. The class just might get you hungry enough to go out to dinner afterwards (see below for some ideas)! You can also check out a few other places to get your arts and crafts fix in the DMV here.
FOR THE WORKAHOLIC
Treat your best friend to a relaxing spa day! There’s nothing better than unwinding from the week with your greatest friend and a rejuvenating massage or facial. Here’s a list of some of the best spas in the DMV area, if even the thought of looking for a great spa stresses you out.
FOR THE FOODIE
I have one good friend who is always down to try a new restaurant with me, and I think that's part of the reason we get along so well. If that's you and your best friend, but you're not quite sure where to try next, there are 5 new restaurants in D.C. that are definitely worthy of a National Best Friend Day dinner.
FOR THE NATURE LOVER
My college roommate and I were not TRULY best friends until we spent five days hiking the Appalachian Trail together: we were dirty, going to the bathroom in the woods, snuggling at night for warmth and pretending our instant oatmeal was a cheeseburger and fries. So, you don't have to be as extreme as that, but if you both love to get in touch with Mother Nature, here are 12 great places to go on Friday.
FOR THE CAFFEINE-OBSESSED
One of my friends growing up and I would spend hours at our local coffee shop, sipping the most sugar-filled drinks, and reading gossip magazines. If that is you and your bestie, we broke down the best coffee shops by neighborhood in D.C. so you can do just that on your Friday afternoon.
