Every year the Social Security Administration releases the top baby names for the year (this is for 2016, FYI). If my spidey-senses are correct, it looks like new parents are throwing it back with older, yet timeless names. Here's how the DMV stacked up.

Overall, it seems boy names tend to vary more, geographically, than the girl names. Harper and Isabella were two other common baby girl names in many states, while Elijiah and Benjamin were common on the boy side across the country. While Ava, Charlotte, Emma and Sophia were also popular girl names in D.C. for 2015, the number one name was Genesis; the number one boy name stayed the same from 2015 to 2016 across D.C., MD and VA.
