When you think of first dates, you probably think about outfit selection, activity choice, nervous butterflies and maybe even a first kiss. You're probably not focusing on the effect the date will have on your wallet. But, it's an undeniable fact that dating costs a pretty penny these days, and not all cities are an even playing field!
Whether it leads to ghosting shame or a ’til death promise, dating will cost you. Just how much depends on three things: location, location, and you get the idea.
A new study from The Black Tux decided to analyze the cost of dating in 50 different cities across the U.S. They calculated the cost of an average date, which they determined to be dinner with two alcoholic drinks and a 20 percent tip, two movie tickets and two rideshare trips. The study found D.C. to be the 6th most expensive city for the average dater, with the typical date costing $125.99.
