There is nothing sweeter than the feeling of giving someone you love a really great gift at the holidays. It's even better when you've put time, energy and a lot of TLC into that epic gift.

If you want to give someone on your "nice" list a homemade present, but don't quite know where to start, these classes will teach you different skills to become the gift-giving guru you always knew you could be. In many of these classes, you'll even leave with a completed item (ready to be wrapped and given to the perfect recipient!)

Plus, these classes are fun and allow you to take some time to sit down, relax and focus your attention on a single project during this busy holiday season.

The Lemon Collective

Geometric Wreaths at Ditto Tree Form: This is the ultimate class to ring in the holiday season! Not only will you make TWO gorgeous wreaths at a tree farm, you will even see Santa! So join TLC's Holley Simmons on Dec. 8 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and learn everything about wiring succulents, arranging clusters of evergreens and how to use different greenery for holiday decorating as you create your own masterpieces. Felted Ornaments: Make one or two holiday-themed ornaments at this class using wool and the needle felted process. TLC provides the materials and shows you step-by-step how to make them. The class is on Dec. 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. One ornament costs $35, two ornaments cost $45. Sign up to make some festive ornaments here.

Wreaths Two Ways: On Dec. 11 at Union Market (1309 5th St NE), learn how to make an evergreen wreath from scratch from TLC founder Holley Simmons. You can choose between making a funky asymmetrical wreath or a traditional round one. All materials needed are provided. The class will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and costs $60. Sign up here.

Looped Yarn Works

Beginning Knit: This 2-day class teaches you the fundamentals of knitting to get you started on a cozy project. On Dec. 9 & 16 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., you'll be taught different tips and tricks to get started on the perfect homemade gift. The class costs $65 and you don't need to buy any materials (unless you have a particular yarn or needles you'd like to use!) Learn more about the class here.

Last Minute Hat: Are you one of those people who waits way too long to get their Christmas shopping done? No sweat. In this class, you'll make your choice of hat: either a fold up ribbed brim hat or a hat with all ribbing. This class will be held on Dec. 18 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and costs $40. Learn more here.

Last Minute Mittens: Also for you crafty procrastinators out there, this class will teach you how to make "super-fast" mittens. It's recommended that you have some knitting experience to take this class. The class will be on Dec. 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and costs $40. Learn more here.

Woodcraft

Spoons and Spatulas: Make your very own spoon or spatula at this class on Dec. 6, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You'll learn everything you need to know from working with the band-saw to finishing the wood - and have a useful kitchen utensil at thend! The class costs $85. Learn more here.

Wooden Gift Box: You'll go home with a beautifully-made wooden gift box -- that you made yourself -- at this class on Dec. 13. From 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. the insructor will teach you everything you need to know about making the box and enhancing it with designs. Tuition for this class costs $120. 3D Scroll Saw Ornaments: The ornament you make at this class will be the star of whoever's tree you decide to gift it to. You'll use a scroll saw to design your ornament and will be given instructions start to finish. This class will be held on Dec. 15 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and costs $120 to attend. Learn more here.

Weisser Glass Studio

Blown Ornaments: Do you think your gift recipients are more of a glass ornament person rather than wood? Then this workshop would be good for you. You'll make up to SIX (!) ornaments using a Hot Head torch. Attend this class on Dec. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuition costs $99 and all materials are included. Peppermint Bark Cake + Truffles: Want to bring a homemade dessert to a holiday party? A Milk Bar cake will have everyone saying "YUM!" Even better, you'll be able to say you made it yourself..with the help of Milk Bar, of course. This class will teach you how to make a holiday favorite with chocolate cake, chocolate crumb, fudge sauce, birthday frosting and crushed peppermints. Holiday Calligraphy & Marbling: Make the most beautiful holiday greeting cards this season.
