Out and About: 9 events sure to make your 4th of July rock

If you're a sucker for fireworks and really can't bear the thought of not spending the fourth of July watching the beautiful booms, check out our list of 8 alternatives to the National Mall of where to watch the fireworks -- you'll still have a great view of the show, without the crowds!

Looking to party hardy tomorrow night? Dupont Circle hotspot Decades is hosting a hott Fourth of July BBQ in the city on their sprawling rooftop from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. The throwback nightlife venue will host its special "Decades of Independence” holiday party featuring $8 Ciroc drinks and $150 bottles, as well as free Kobe beef hot dogs, hamburgers, tacos and more.

Fourth of July is a great day to spend some time with the family, and Mount Vernon makes it all the easier. On Independence Day, celebrate at Mount Vernon with a dazzling display of made-for-daytime fireworks during its annual July 4 event! Visitors will be treated to spectacular smoke fireworks in patriotic colors fired over the Potomac River at 1 p.m. Mount Vernon’s Independence Day event also includes an inspirational naturalization ceremony for 100 new citizens, military reenactments, a special wreathlaying ceremony, free birthday cake for all guests (while supplies last), and a visit from the “first” first couple, “General and Mrs. Washington.” Mount Vernon’s Independence Day event takes place from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and is included in general admission. Ticket prices, when purchased online, are: adults, $18; children ages 6-11, $9; and children under 5 are admitted free.

If you're already dreading the havoc that all of tomorrow's barbecue and beer is going to do on your beach bod, check out the annual Red, White, & Rowdy: July 4th Power Flow Yoga at 405 Yoga. Before you toss the tofu and burgers on the grill, roll out with community for an accessible, challenging, and fun practice. Class begins at 9:15 a.m.

Burgers and hot dogs are commonplace on the Fourth, but how about chowing down on some tacos?? For the Fourth of July, the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel is hosting a taco cookout! Art and Soul Executive Chef Douglas Alexander will be grilling poolside from 12-8 p.m. on the fourth, so guests can enjoy tacos, beer, cocktails, and more a la carte. The rooftop will be open from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Tickets are $40.

You can’t spell ‘American' without a ‘can’ and Jack Rose Dining Saloon is once again partnering with local Frederick, Maryland-based Flying Dog Brewery for a beer-centric 4th of July celebration and rooftop viewing party. Jack Rose's 5th Annual “AmeriCAN DrinkDependence Day” will commence when the terrace opens early at 3 p.m. serving $4 Flying Dog cans (such as Snake Dog IPA, Raging Bitch Belgian IPA and Numero Uno Agave Cerveza) and $5 drafts (such as The Truth Imperial IPA, Bloodline Blood Orange Ale, Dead Rise OLD BAY Summer Ale, Summer Rental Radler, and Brewhouse Rarities Honey Paloma Ale) all day and night, plus half-priced bites such as Smoked Whiskey Wings with habanero and honey bourbon sauce, Crispy Chicken Skins with paprika, lime and green goddess dressing, and Baby Pork Sandwiches with Carolina sauce and coleslaw.

It wouldn't truly be America's birthday without a little bit of America's favorite pastime. The Nats will play at 11:05 a.m. against the Mets, leaving plenty of time for fans to get to a barbecue or grab a spot on the National Mall for evening festivities. The U.S. Army Parachute Team, known as the Golden Knights, will perform in the air and parachute onto the field prior to the game. For almost a century, the legendary Rockettes have represented America through dance, and the Nationals are thrilled to welcome them to Nationals Park on Independence Day! The Rockettes will be performing in Center Field Plaza before the game, and will also be performing for fans on-top of the dugouts during the game.

Join Embassy Row Hotel for some IndepenDancing and celebrate this July 4th with a Rooftop SILENT DISCO party right in the heart of the nation's capital in Dupont Circle. Enjoy amazing panoramic views of the Fireworks while having the ultimate Silent Disco experience. You can choose from three live DJs who will play all evening long, with special tracks prepared for during the fireworks show. Tickets are $30.
