Met Gala Viewing Party: Join FGIDC for fashion's most anticipated night of the year, the Met Gala! This viewing party will allow you to view the details from all angles with three screens, so no matter where you turn, you wont miss a single red carpet moment. Guests will enjoy signature cocktails, a buffet, a custom photo booth experience and a panel discussion after the red carpet viewing with local celebrity stylists. Local fashion artist, Cris Clapp Logan, will also be in attendance sketching all of the best Met Gala red carpet looks of the evening. Tickets start at $25.

Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists: For their final Millennium Stage program of the season, the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists present a celebratory program of great operatic ensembles, including a preview of their upcoming Concert of Comic Masterpieces. This show is the culmination of this intensive training program, showcasing repertoire they have worked on throughout the season and serves as a perfect introduction to the magic and beauty of opera for all ages. Profs & Pints Summoning Fairies: The latest edition of P&P will be an exploration of the literature and folklore of the elusive fairy and her kin, with Sara Cleto and Brittany Warman, former English instructors at The Ohio State University and founders of the Carterhaugh School of Folklore and the Fantastic. POW!WOW! DC Secret Walls: Two teams of artists, from all backgrounds and styles, will compete to conceptualize and create a black-and-white mural (using only black markers or acrylic paint) in a limited time. The public will then choose the winner. Secret Walls has been a fixture in the global art community for more than 11 years. Free to attend.
Garden Soiree Under the Stars: Step back in time for an evening at the Presidential home of Woodrow Wilson to experience the elegance of the roaring 20s with an evening of music, dancing under the stars to a live band, and the excitement of a Presidential vintage garden soiree. Dress up in your favorite vintage or vintage-inspired attire to compete for a prize. Tickets start at $35.
DC Bike Party's Funk Ride: The 6th Annual Funk Parade is on May 11th and DCBP is kicking off the party with an extra fly ride! Get ready to PARADE around DC and get FUNKY on wheels. Dress to impress ala George Clinton and Chaka Khan. Think: big colors, bold patterns and lotsa flair. Free to attend.

Evenings at the Edge: Take a walk on the wild side during the final Evenings at the Edge of the spring season. Talks, activities, and performances are inspired by the upcoming exhibition The Life of Animals in Japanese Art. Expand your linguistic repertoire with Speed Japanese lessons and haiku in the East Building galleries, explore how animals have captivated artists throughout history and across cultures, and celebrate Japanese culture with a taiko drumming performance and hands-on origami and calligraphy.
