Wawa Groundbreaking: It's official --Wawa is finally a part of the D.C. community! To celebrate the impending arrival of fresh hoagies and made-to-order 'dillas, Wawa is holding a groundbreaking ceremony celebration on the site of the future first D.C. Wawa location; it will be the largest store in the company to date at 9,200 square feet. Guests will be given free Wawa iced teas, lemonade and juice along with other giveaways. Yamhill Carlton Oregon Wine Showcase: 10 wineries from the Yamhill Carlton AVA (American Viticultural Area) in Oregon’s Willamette Valley will pour tastings of their notable vintages for guests at Roofers Union. Guests can expect a strong showing of pinot noir, a signature varietal from many vintners in the Willamette Valley, as well as a range of red, white, and sparkling wines unique to Oregon’s characteristic climate. Bachelors and Brews Yappy Hour: Mix and mingle with DC Refined's Most Eligible Bachelors and some adorable adoptable dogs from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue on the patio of The Brig Beer Garden. Enjoy some brews from Devil's Backbone Brewery, passed appetizers, and great conversation with DC's most eligible. 50 percent of ticket proceeds will be donated to Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. Cher: Don't miss your chance to witness the performance of a lifetime! Cher has partnered with AEG Live and MGM Resorts International to debut CLASSIC CHER, a series of special concerts exclusive to North America. As the theater's first resident Cher performed five shows at MGM back in February/March and came back for six more shows this month (August 31, September 2,3,7,9 and 10). Zoo Uncorked: Join Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) to party with the primates and make a toast to conservation at Zoo Uncorked (formerly Grapes with Apes). Uncork and unwind with wine tastings from local and national wineries after hours at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. The Zoo's Small Mammal House, Reptile Discovery Center, Think Tank and Great Cats exhibits will also be open late for guests.
