We haven't even reached peak bloom yet, and you're probably tired of hearing about the cherry blossoms! But if you're a die-hard fan of these persistent little buggers, and looking for a new way to view them this year, taking to the water may be your best bet.
Boating in DC is offering three-hour kayak tours from April 1-15. Petal Paddle tours are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and depart from the Wharf Boathouse (690 Water St SW). Tours are $35 for a single kayak and $70 for a double kayak. You can make reservations here. Organizers recommend packing water, a snack, a camera and a change of clothes just in case.
Of course, if you prefer to stay on land, but have no patience for the throngs of tourists that descend on the Tidal Basin annually for cherry blossom season, check out these four primo viewing spots off the mall.
