Pride Guide: 10 places to celebrate Pride all weekend long

Capital Pride is finally here! This weekend is going to be a rainbow-filled celebration of love, equality and the LGBTQ community in D.C. When you think Pride, you probably think of the parade on Saturday or the festival/concert on Sunday, but here are 10 more events you can check out to keep that Pride going all weekend long!

Thursday, June 7

Drag Bingo Bash at Taylor Gourmet (1908 14th Street NW) Kick-off Capital Pride the right way, with drag bingo! Two of D.C.'s coolest drag queens, Bombalicious Eklaver and Ba'Naka, will host the games. The event is free to attend, there will be complimentary Taylor Gourmet salads and cocktails and you just might win some pretty awesome surprise prizes. Drag Bingo Bash is produced in partnership with the Washington Blade and will benefit Casa Ruby, a bilingual LGBT organization providing services and programs to the community. Bingo will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., split into three 45 minute sessions.

Sip & Sew with Pride (300 N. Patrick St., Alexandria, VA 22314) Get ready for Saturday's parade by making a crisscross back Pride tank top at Sip & Sew. Sip & Sew provides everything you need to make your tank. The class starts at 4 p.m. and costs $40.

Friday, June 8

EatWell Pride Flamingo Party at The Bird (1337 11TH S. NW) Kick it in to high gear with a beach-themed party on The Bird's rooftop terrace. The party, put on in partnership with The Washington Blade, will have tropical Pride-inspired food and cocktails for $5-$10. The Valentine is a must-try cocktail with tequila, strawberry syrup, St. Germaine, lemon. There will also be "taste the rainbow" cupcakes! YUM! The party starts at 9 p.m. and goes until midnight.

Yoga for Every Body: Pride Edition (2200 Champlain St NW) A free yoga class will be offered at 6 p.m. at the Adams Morgan Community Center. The class will be led by Simone Jacobson and is specifically designed for "people of color, LGBTQ+ people, and anyone who has ever felt out of place, unwelcome, or unsafe in yoga spaces." This is a welcoming place for attendees to deepen their wellness and enjoy their yoga practice.

Earth, Wind, Glitter & Fire at Echostage (2135 Queens Chapel Road NE) This is the official Capital Pride opening party in partnership with our friends at Brightest Young Things. There will be DJs, dancing, drinks, photo booths, and fun -- obviously! The party starts at 9 p.m. and goes until 3:30 a.m., so you can rage all night long. Make sure you dress on theme: the elements, Captain Planet and the periodic table.

Saturday, June 9

“Pride + Shine” at Urbana (2121 P Street NW) Get front-row seating to the parade at Urbana's annual all-day party. Enjoy brunch, drinks, a dance party with DJ Trayze and a guest appearance by Mike Hot-Pence taking pictures with guests and collecting donations for the Trevor Project, a national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. There will be a special bar package, too! For $50, guests can choose from select wines, beers and cocktails to sip on from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pride + Shine is from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pride Parade Patio Party at Le Diplomate: (1604 14th St. NW) Another prime viewing location for the parade is at this much-loved D.C. restaurant. From 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., celebrate Pride with cocktail specials and good times at the restaurant's large outdoor patio.

All day/night happy hour at Declaration Shaw (804 V St NW) This V Street spot will open at 1 p.m. Saturday for lunch and all day/night happy hour! Lunch will be from 1-3 p.m. Happy hour menu only will be available between 3-4 p.m. and dinner will be available 4-11 p.m. There will be some can't-miss happy hour specials, too: $8 cocktails, $7 glasses of wine, $6 select spirits, $5 select beer, and $5-$8 bar bites.

Sunday, June 10

"Pride Hangover Pool Party" at DNV Rooftop (1155 14th Street, NW) Hungover from the parade and other Pride celebration on Saturday? There's no better hangover cure than eating a good brunch, going for a swim in DNV Rooftop's pool and sipping on some cocktails! DNVLGBTQ Pride Pops (rainbow boozy popsicles) will be specially made for the day. One dollar from each Pride Pop will be donated to The Trevor Project. The pool party is from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. No reservations are required, but there is a $10 entry fee at the door. The cover charge will be waived for any guest wearing a wristband from Urbana’s “Pride + Shine."

"Not the White House Pride Party" at Republic Restoratives Distillery (1369 New York Avenue NE) In partnership with LGBT44, the unofficial network of Obama LGBTQ alumni, Republic Restoratives is hosting a "Sunday Funday" benefit 12 p.m.-4 p.m. There will be a DJ and tasty drinks! All ticket sales will benefit TransLaw, a local organization working to better serve the legal needs of transgender people in the D.C. area. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.
