This party is exclusively for Washingtonians with student loan debt (who like wine)

Most days, student loans are nothing to celebrate or get excited about. They're the pesky problem preventing you from buying a house (or avocado toast -- no judgement here). But on June 21, your student loan debt is your golden ticket into the most millennial party ever!

SoFi, an online personal finance company, is bringing their popular "Debt After Dark" series to D.C. and throwing a free party at District Winery for anyone with student loans who is 21 and over. All you have to do is register in advance (there is a deposit to reserve your spot but you will be refunded), bring proof of your student loans and enjoy a night of NO BILLS!

"At SoFi, we are always trying to come up with unique ways to put our members first, and help them reach their own ambitions," says SoFi's VP of membership, Libby Leffler. "We hope that Debt After Dark gives our members -- and their friends -- a night off from worrying about debt and loans and bills."

The student loan debt in America has surpassed $1.5 trillion, and unfortunately D.C. has the highest percentage of student debt holders among metro areas. According to a study by LendingTree, the median balance for student loan borrowers in the DMV is $22,803. It's not really surprising when you consider that nearly one out of four Washingtonians have professional or graduate degrees, which is more than double the national rate of 11.5 percent. So basically, we've totally earned a night out, on someone else's dime!

Once you're in, you can enjoy welcome cocktails, wine, beer, an ice cream sundae bar and a chance to win four tickets to a Nats game. Of course it wouldn't be a millennial party without a 360-degree photo booth (pics or it didn't happen!), killer beats or sweet swag on your way out.

"To us, success would be a night where our members and guests can mingle, have a blast and make connections that last well beyond that night," said Leffler. "And that we can all give each other the support we need on the journey to financial independence."

So grab a friend -- whether they have debt or not -- and head to District Winery for a night of wine, friends, networking and a tab that's already been picked up!
