Three Maryland cities make top 10 list of most diverse cities in America

If you live in the DMV you've probably referred to the area as a melting pot once or twice and that is something I love about living here. We are definitely ahead of the game when it comes to diversity and culture, go us!

A recent study by WalletHub identified the top 10 most diverse cities in America, and not one, but three Maryland cities made the list!

To determine the most kaleidoscopic places in the U.S., WalletHub’s analysts compared the demographic profiles of more than 500 of the largest cities across five major diversity categories: socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household and religious

The three Maryland cities that made the list were #5 Silver Spring, #7 Gaithersburg, and #9 Germantown.

Here's how the cities stacked up:

Silver Spring:

  • Socioeconomic diversity: 1
  • Cultural diversity: 4
  • Economic diversity: 200
  • Household diversity: 314
  • Religion diversity: 304

Gaithersburg:

  • Socioeconomic diversity: 2
  • Cultural diversity: 3
  • Economic diversity: 309
  • Household diversity: 247
  • Religion diversity: 304

Germantown:

  • Socioeconomic diversity: 5
  • Cultural diversity: 2
  • Economic diversity: 266
  • Household diversity: 373
  • Religion diversity: 304

Washington, D.C. and Northern Va. had a few standout moments too! The District ranked #5 for most educational-attainment diversity. And Arlington, Va. ranked #1 for most birthplace diversity.
