Mary Lou and Daniel have known each other for so long they aren't even sure how they first met! (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"We’ve known each other since high school and have been friends for over 14 years," said Mary Lou. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)

Daniel proposed during a weekend getaway to Nashville, where Mary Lou had lived when they first dating long distance; she thought it was just a trip to celebrate his 30th birthday in style. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"I should have realized he had something in store when he wouldn’t eat anything at brunch and insisted on walking around in 90-degree weather in jeans and a button-down," laughs Mary Lou. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
Daniel proposed on a pedestrian bridge overlooking the Cumberland River -- one of Mary Lou's favorite spots in Music City. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
For Mary Lou, the most exciting aspect of their wedding day was the thought of being surrounded by their closest friends and family and celebrating with them all. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"Our best friends are scattered throughout the country, and it felt like a great excuse to get everyone together to enjoy a fun weekend," she said. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)

Mary Lou feels fortunate that she can say that there isn't anything she would change about her wedding day if given the chance. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"It’s important to understand that there will be trade-offs to every decision you make," she says. "For instance, we opted to do a receiving line, and I loved getting to give every single guest a hug without having to hurry around during dinner to do so, but it also ate up another 30 minutes during which we could have taken pictures." (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"It’s important to keep in mind that you can’t have everything, so just stick with what matters most to you and you shouldn’t have any regrets." (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
Mary Lou chose not to hire a wedding planner, as she describes herself as someone that "generally likes to take things into my own hands." (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"While I’m certain having planning assistance would have been very helpful, I favored directing more funds toward flowers, place settings and other details," said Mary Lou. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"That said, the Club provided amazing catering and design support, so I felt like I had a lot of extra help that other venues might not necessarily provide." (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
Mary Lou says her "splurge" was definitely the flowers for the day. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"I wanted to be surrounded by beautiful smells and soft colors," she says. My floral designer had amazing vision and made the venue feel like a botanical garden." (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
The venue was chosen for sentimental family reasons. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"My great-grandmother was a member of the Club and ate lunch there every day at the same table," said Mary Lou. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"My grandmother, mother and and brother all held their wedding receptions there." (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"It’s a very special place for us – I couldn’t have imagined celebrating anywhere else," Mary Lou said. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
170 guests attended the wedding. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)

"When my grandfather served in the Navy, he was issued a sword to be worn with his dress uniforms," said Mary Lou. "Ever since, each family member uses it to cut their wedding cake. I’ll admit, it’s a little tricky to cut the perfect slice, but it’s a ton of fun to use!" (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
For both Mary Lou and Daniel, the highlight of the day were the toasts. "It was so wonderful to finally unwind from the most hectic parts of the day next to my new husband, a glass of bubbly in hand, and listen to our best friends and family share their love, wisdom, memories, and a good laugh." "I first worked with Sydney at my sister’s wedding in Annapolis a couple years ago," she said. (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"She was an instant hit and it was a no brainer to hire her again when my wedding rolled around." (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
Mary Lou's best piece of advice to future brides? (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
Make your decisions and stick with them! (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"It’s safe to say I’m a fairly detail-oriented, yet indecisive person – a dangerous combination when planning a wedding," said Mary Lou. "I got caught up in second guessing my decisions, anxious that I had made the wrong call -- I agonized over the color palette for months." (Image:{ }SASs Photography)
"Ultimately, the decisions I made had been carefully considered and second-guessing them was a waste of precious time and energy," said Mary Lou. "Be thoughtful about your choices, but then move forward with confidence."(Image:{ }SASs Photography)
