ZooLights: Join the thousands of visitors who make ZooLights a part of their annual holiday tradition. A free event, ZooLights includes live music performances, tasty winter treats and plenty of opportunities for holiday shopping. More than 500,000 environmentally-friendly LED lights transform the Zoo into a winter wonderland complete with a dazzling light show set to music!

Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning: Rock your red and head to the Capital One Arena to cheer on the Washington Capitals as they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Sour Hour Grand Opening at Three Notch'd Brewery: Three Notch’d Brewery, the largest restaurant in Charlottesville, has opened an all-new "Sour House" and the grand opening will be held Friday, November 24 thru Sunday, November 26! Whether you prefer your brews with a hint of sour, or simply want to enjoy a weekend filled with food, outdoor activities and fun for the entire family, this is the perfect way to spend your Thanksgiving weekend.

City of Alexandria Tree Lighting Ceremony: At this official kickoff to the holiday season, the city tree is lit on Market Square and a special program includes a welcome by the town crier, the mayor and other city officials, a visit by Santa and holiday performances from the Metropolitan Fine Arts Center. 6-9 p.m.

Reston Holiday Parade: On the day after Thanksgiving, the 27th annual Reston Holiday Parade will present a cast of more than 1,400 who will march, sing, dance, and drive in a half-mile procession of bands, performers, cars, characters, community groups, dignitaries, giant float balloons, and more, capped with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus in a horse-drawn carriage.

Holiday Pop-Up Shop Brief Assembly Coming to Union Market: In the continuation of bringing national and local retailers to the district, Union Market will host the first installation of new pop-up concept shop Brief Assembly this holiday season. Brief Assembly is a fully operational storefront space where selected makers, designers and independent brands from across the U.S. will have their goods sold in a unique and curated shopping experience. The store will run from Saturday, November 25 through Saturday, December 23 in a historic warehouse space.

The Holly Days at Eastern Market: This year, Eastern Market Main Street (EMMS) is proud to celebrate small and local businesses with The Holly Days. Beginning with Small Business Saturday on November 25 and ending on December 31, EMMS encourages you to shop local and celebrate the season with this historic corridor.

Holiday Movie: Dr. Seuss: How The Grinch Stole Christmas: There is no better way to kick off the holiday season than with a Dr. Seuss movie! Pack your chairs, grab food to go and meet at the Plaza screen for a free evening of fun!

Rock Creek Park Clean Up: Join the Blue Planet Stream Team, the Rock Creek Conservancy and the Alice Ferguson Foundation for the 9th Annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup, in coordination with the 29th Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup. The cleanup will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
