DC Beer Week Kick(off) a Keg for Charity: Roofers Union helps kick off DC Beer Week the Thursday beforehand with a ‘kick the keg’ charity event at 6 p.m. benefiting organizations chosen by six local breweries. A select draft from each DC brewery (3 Stars, DC Brau, Hellbender, Right Proper, Bluejacket, and Atlas) will be available for $7; the first brewery’s keg to kick wins the crown of people’s choice. A portion of proceeds from the drafts on special will be donated to charities chosen by the breweries.
Bubbles & Bluegrass: A perfect summer night activity for the whole family, featuring bubble art for little ones and live music for adults. (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.)

Alexandria Summer Restaurant Week Kicks Off: On August 18-27, over 60 Alexandria restaurants will feature a $35 three-course dinner for one OR a $35 dinner for two during Alexandria Summer Restaurant Week. More than two dozen restaurants will also offer lunch deals at $10, $15 or $20 per person in addition to the dinner specials. See participating restaurants here.
Cirque du Soleil OVO: OVO is teeming with life. Insects work, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy in motion. Their home is filled with biodiversity, beauty, action and moments of quiet emotion. The awestruck insects are intensely curious when a mysterious egg appears, representing the enigma and cycles of their lives. The show is only in town this weekend and will have you holding your breath for 90 minutes!

Harbor Dome Summer Snow Globe Opening: National Harbor’s Harbor Dome Summer Snow Globe opens to the public this weekend. The weekend will feature live music from White Ford Bronco on Saturday, August 19th and Magic Giant on Sunday, August 20th. Guests will enjoy real dustings of snow, specialty cocktails from Gina Chersevani of Buffalo and Bergen, as well as snowball cornhole!
TAP Beer Fest: TAP Sports Bar at MGM National Harbor will host a first of its kind beer festival on Potomac Plaza. The TAP Beer Fest will offer an ultimate dining and craft beer experience featuring live music and six local and nationally recognized breweries. For $30, guests 21+ will receive a wristband, a six ticket drink booklet, and a limited edition sample glass entitling them to 5oz. pours of beer from attending breweries. Tickets will be available for purchase at the restaurant the day of the event

Game Night at The Yard: Why play ordinary board games when you can play larger-than-life games at The Yards? On the grassy space between Ice Cream Jubilee and District Winery, lawn bowling, corn hole, life-sized checkers and chess, giant Jenga and Connect 4, and more will be available for guests to play free of charge.
