Friday, August 4

The Great Chesapeake Balloon & Wine Festival: Head out to Cordova, Md. for two days of fun! Enjoy activities like hot air balloon rides, crafts, shopping, food, and lots of wine! Friday and Saturday evening activities will culminate with up to 15 balloons participating in a Balloon Glow at dusk.

La La Land in Concert at Wolf Trap: The winner of six Academy Awards including Best Original Score and Best Original Song, La La Land tells the story of Mia, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian, a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams. The film will be projected in HD onto big screens in-house and on the lawn. The show starts at 8:30 p.m.

George Lopez at the Kennedy Center: George Lopez’s multi-faceted career encompasses television, film, standup comedy, and late-night television. Now Lopez is filming his new HBO Special with all-new material at the Kennedy Center! Tickets start at $59.50.

Jurassic Park in Concert at Wolf Trap: An adventure 65 million years in the making comes back to the big screen. Watch Steven Spielberg’s original Oscar-winning dinosaur classic in high definition as the National Symphony Orchestra brings John Williams’ iconic music to soaring, scaly life. The film will be projected in HD onto big screens in-house and on the lawn. Show starts at 8:30 p.m.

Coldplay at FedExField: Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams Tour hits the stage at FedExField on Sunday, August 6. Tickets range from $24-$462. The show starts at 7 p.m.

The Yoga Hive: This summer, the National Building Museum presented a new, interactive installation designed by Studio Gang, an architecture and urban design practice based in Chicago and New York. "Hive" is the latest in the Museum's imaginative Summer Block Party series of temporary structures inside its historic Great Hall. On Sunday, August 6, enjoy a one hour, all-level yoga practice INSIDE the Hive in the Great Hall! Space is limited. BYO yoga mat. $20 per person.
