Smithsonian Folklife Festival: (June 29-July 4 & July 6 - July 9)The Smithsonian Folklife Festival honors contemporary living cultural traditions and celebrates those who practice and sustain them. Produced annually by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the Festival has featured participants from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. The free Festival takes place for two weeks every summer, overlapping the Fourth of July holiday.

Friday, June 30

Ben Folds & National Symphony Orchestra: Newly named Artistic Advisor Ben Folds curates, hosts and performs with the National Symphony Orchestra—conducted by Jacomo Bairos—for a special evening that features new music and hits by Folds, singer/composer/producer/guitarist Blake Mills, and Cuban R&B/rap singer Danay Suárez. This inaugural concert from the Ben Folds Presents series spotlights a unique multi-genre melding of 21st-century pop and orchestral music for all ages.

DeRay Davis at the D.C. Improv: From the South Side of Chicago, DeRay Davis has made himself into a comedic force. He’s a presence in Hollywood, with roles in “21 Jump Street,” “Jumping the Broom” and the “Barbershop” movies, to name a few.

Red White & Brew Festival: (July 1 - July 2) The Red, White & Brew Wine and Beer Festival is back! Show your patriotic colors while you kick back with friends, food, tunes and a sweet selection of reds, whites and brews.

DC Carnival Experience presents: 4th of July Weekend Beach Party: Chill out at the National Harbor Beachfront from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and pretend you are on a tropical island somewhere.

We the Party People 2017: JFK Centennial: Continue the Celebration of JFK’s legacy at the National Museum of American History with an After Hours Birthday Party. Enjoy lighting talks, 1960s themed food and drink, objects out of storage and live music exploring the impact of the Kennedy era on today. Presented with partner Brightest Young Things.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch: See the show before it's gone! This four-time Tony-winning, genre-bending sensation promises to take DC by storm! Shows Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Sunrise Yoga on the Rooftop: Enjoy a sweet flow and the fresh air, beneath the beauty of the summertime sunrise on The Rooftop of the Embassy Row Hotel. Join in for an all level vinyasa class, led by local partners, EPIC Yoga.
