Drink Up! Flight Wine Bar launches wine school

Flight Wine Bar is giving you a new and educational way to spend your Saturday evening. The Chinatown wine bar is launching a brand-new wine tasting series called Flight Wine School!

Flight Wine School will be taught by certified sommeliers and the owners of Flight, Swati Bose and Kabir Amir. The sommeliers will lead guests on a global journey, exploring the tastes and terroirs of the world's finest wine regions. Each class will explore four wines from a different country, along with complimentary bites.

Flight’s first class will teach guests how to identify the basic wine aromas and flavors needed to describe what you do (or don’t) like. Guest will learn how to navigate wine lists, and select wines at retail stores with ease (no more Barefoot Moscato). The wine school kicks off on January 27 at 4 p.m. Guests can purchase tickets for $55.

For guests that can’t make the first series, don't worry -- there will be three more!

February 24 – France: Learn about the various styles of wine that can be found in France, and the regions where they’re produced.

March 31 – Spain: Taste Spanish wines from some of the country’s finest wine-producing regions including Andalusia, Ribera del Duero, Penedès, and Priorat.

April 28 – Italy: From the Alps to the Mediterranean, take a tour of Italy without ever leaving DC! This class will explore the diverse wines found in the region, focusing on the grape varieties found in Piedmont, Tuscany, Campania, and Sicily.
