New sports bar to join the Clarendon restaurant scene

Clarendon has a vibrant restaurant and bar scene, but one thing it is lacking is a prominent sports bar with good food and a great environment. Mike Cordero is planning on changing that problem by bringing his newest venture to Clarendon this August.

Cordero, executive chef and owner of A-Town, Barley Mac, Bronx Pizza, Don Tito, Don Taco, and Primetime Sports Bar is taking over 3028 Wilson Boulevard, which formerly housed Hard Times Café to open The G.O.A.T, "greatest of all time." The restaurant will seat 350 guests between three full bars and full service tables. The 200-person dining room will have a mix of high tops and long banquet style tables. The bar stools and high top chairs will feature plush cushions and foot rests to make seating for extended periods most comfortable (We all know how uncomfortable those high top tables can be). To ensure all seats are “the best seat in the house,” The G.O.A.T. will have three large viewing walls. Each wall will be covered in individual TV monitors that together display one single televised event to maximize the viewing potential from each table. Don't have tickets to the game? The G.O.A.T. will make you feel like you are right there with the team.

“Our mission is to offer simple yet delicious food, a variety of drinks and a relaxing environment to lounge in,” said Cordero. The G.O.A.T. will serve gourmet American comfort food and beverages. But co-owner, Scott Parker says "It's too early to discuss specific menu items." One thing we do know is all the menu’s recipes will feature locally sourced ingredients and homemade marinades and sauces. There will also be an emphasis on craft cocktails and beers supplied from area microbreweries.

“The G.O.A.T. will be an inviting sports bar that can be enjoyed beyond game day," said Cordero. Designed with extended hours for lounging in mind, The G.O.A.T. will transition from a traditional sports bar to a chic and relaxed evening lounge.

If sports aren't really your thing, G.O.AT. will still be the place for you to hang out, grab a drink and even play an arcade game. "We will have an incredible game and arcade set up. Guests can watch their sporting events while playing their favorite classic arcade games and the newest hits as well," said Parker. "We're excited to give Clarendon the sports and game bar it deserves!"
