Off The Record releases new politically-inspired cocktails and coasters

There's a lot about this town that makes us shake our head and say "Only in D.C." but this might take the cake: Off The Record, a popular watering hole for Washington's power crowd, has just announced their newest batch of politically-themed cocktails which will be served to you with one of four new commissioned coasters featuring headline-making politicians.

Political cartoonists Ann Telnaes, Matt Wuerker (both of whom have won Pulitzer Prizes) and Kevin “KAL” Kallaugher were commissioned to create the new collection, which includes Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Kim Jong Un; and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The coasters are paired with four new cocktails, three of which include spirits from local distillers such as Don Ciccio & Figli, One Eight Distilling and Ivy City. See the full descriptors of the cocktails below:

  1. Kiki’s Concerto: Absolut Elyx vodka, Don Ciccio & Figli Concerto liqueur and fresh espresso, garnished with a lemon twist
  2. Meddler in the Rye: One Eight Distilling vodka, Don Ciccio & Figli Finocchietto, fresh squeezed lime juice, tonic water, Chef Gene’s house-made spice mix and pepper
  3. Prost: PAMA pomegranate liqueur, grapefruit simple syrup and Stella Artois, garnished with a candied orange wheel
  4. 38th Parallel: Ivy City gin, Don Ciccio & Figli Don Ferne, Plume & Thyme simple syrup and tonic water, garnished with a mint leaf

The cocktails and collectible coasters will make their official debut on September 5 when OTR reopens following summer renovations. The new batch of politically-inspired coasters brings the bar's collection of collectibles over 20, as the bar has previously featured everyone from Presidents Obama, Trump and Bush to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer.
