Open & Shut: This month in restaurant openings and closings

Openings:

Portner Brewhouse: Located in Alexandria, Portner Brewhouse will serve contemporary German-American cuisine and offer the public a chance to taste and rate home-brewed recipes in the Craft Beer Test Kitchen. Expected to open Tuesday, March 7, according to VisitAlexandriaVA.com.

Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster Barbeque: The four-time World Barbecue Champion has brought his sought after barbecue to Old Town Alexandria. Opened in January 2017.

Bar Bao: Located at 3100 Clarendon Blvd, Bar Bao will serve steamed buns, dumplings and other small Chinese and Taiwanese street food inspired bites. Expected to open in April 2017, according to Arlnow.com.

Alta Strada: Michael Schlow has opened up Alta Strada in the Mosaic District of Fairfax County. Opened in February.

Bardo Beer: According to Brado Brewing's Twitter page, the beer garden located in Navy Yard has soft opened and will be open sporadically until April 3.

The Smith: Located in Penn Quarter, the highly anticipated NYC restaurant has opened their doors to the public, serving farm fresh creative bistro dishes. Opened in February.

Northside 10: Northside 10 offers delicious southern dishes with a great selection of craft beer, wine, and cocktails in Alexandria. Opened in January.

Mirabelle: The French inspired restaurant is set to open in D.C. in March 2017, according to their website.

Arroz: The southern Spanish restaurant by Mike Isabella is set to open in early 2017, according to the Arroz Facebook page.

Closings:

Carpool: According to WTOP, the go to Ballston bar announced they will be closing their doors in April 2017 but don't worry Carpool fans, the owner told WTOP that he plans to relocate the Arlington bar to Fairfax County’s Fair Lakes area this summer.

Zengo: Richard Sandoval’s fusion restaurant Zengo has closed, according to Eater D.C.

Table: According to Eater D.C., Table shut their doors in mid February.

Water & Wall: Announced on their Facebook page, Water & Wall decided to call it quits on Valentine's Day after three and a half years of serving up delicious dishes.

Adega Wine Cellars & Cafe: Patch.com reports that the popular Silver Spring restaurant suddenly closed their doors in mid February.
