Beat the "Sunday scaries" at these 7 D.C. bars

We all know the feeling - it's 5 p.m. on Sunday evening and suddenly you realize the weekend is over, your fun has been had, and the upcoming work week hangs like a gray cloud over you as you try to get yourself together for Monday morning. That's right, it's the infamous "Sunday scaries." Thankfully, there's a cure.

Here's what you have to do: grab a friend, get out of your apartment and head to one of these places with awesome Sunday night deals to drink (and eat) those "scaries" away.

Black Jack (1612 14th Street NW) Black Jack is located on the second floor of Pearl Dive Oyster Palace. This bar, known for its trendy decor and cool cocktails, offers happy hour all day on Sundays. That means half-price drafts, $5 wines, half-price pizzas, $7 burgers and, of course, some seafood bites!

All Set Restaurant & Bar (8630 Fenton Street, Plaza 5, Silver Spring, MD) This seafood spot has a nautical New England vibe right in the heart of Silver Spring, and thanks to their all-day Sunday happy hour (11 a.m.-9 p.m.) you might even be able to drink enough to think you're seaside. Sip on $5 cocktails (I'll take a "Pretty in Pink," please!), $6 wine and $3 coronas while indulging in fried calamari, fish tacos, mussels or oysters.

Dino's Grotto (1914 9th Street NW ) Come for the out-of-this-world Italian food, stay for the all-day Sunday happy hour AND their "wine madness" deal aka 50 percent off all bottles of wine $60 or more. That's a win-win-win in my book. Happy hour specials include $8 signature cocktails, $6 wines, $4 tap beers, as well as $5 antipasti and $10 charcuterie boards.

Hank's Cocktail Bar (819 Upshur St. NW) From 5 to 11 p.m. on Sundays, you can drink away those dreaded Sunday night feelings with some discounted cocktails, including $5 champagne cocktails, $6 wines or $5 old fashioneds. Who needs midday brunch when you can sleep in on Sunday and STILL drink champagne?!

Aqua 301 (301 Water St. SE) Discounted drinks and two for $5 tacos during regular happy hour (3:30-7 p.m.) and late night happy hour (9 p.m.-close) make this waterside Mexican restaurant the place to be on Sunday evenings. $4 draft beers, $5 wines, $6 margaritas and $6 sangrias are the ultimate remedy for those scaries.

Hill Country (410 Seventh Street NW) I don't know about you, but nothing makes me happier than really delicious barbecue. Throw in a good drink deal and I'm in heaven! Hill Country has a late night food menu starting at 9 p.m. on Sundays, complete with wings, chili nachos, chili mac & cheese and cornbread -- my mouth is watering just thinking about this food! There is also a late night happy hour from 10 p.m. to close on Sundays, with $4 Bud Light, $6 house wines, $6 sangria $20 draft pitchers and $22 margarita pitchers.

Belga Cafe (514 8th Street SE) This Belgian restaurant is located on Capitol Hill and offers half-price bites, draft beers, wines and cocktails every Sunday 4 p.m. to close. You can't beat that, especially when it can be enjoyed outside on the sidewalk patio!
