These are the bars to hit up for craft brews at Bud Light prices:
Running from 5-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, the popular BOGO (buy one get one) happy hour is the perfect blend of quality, price, and length. Which is great for drinkers. They always have a number of rotating craft beers on draft with a focus on local brews, but also PBRs, Natty Boh’s and such for those who want to stay basic.
A favorite for locals, Pizzeria Paradiso has an extensive beer list at all its four locations. While they are reasonably priced to begin with ($6-$8), all drafts are $3 off during happy hour, making it a great deal. Expect to find a range of beers from IPAs, sours, pilsners, and witbiers. The newly opened game room in the Georgetown location is a perfect chill spot to play some pinball or shuffleboard while sipping. Happy Hour runs Monday through Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Georgetown and Old Town locations; and Tuesday and Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Dupont and Hyattsville spots.
A good deal if any, you can get $5 drafts Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to close & ALL DAY Sunday at the bar. There are over 30 drafts to choose from, so this is no joke. You can find a good mix of local beers and other interesting additions from around the country. There are plenty of bar food options to go along with your drinks too. As you can imagine, it does get pretty packed in here so get here early!
With over 50 drafts and more than 350 bottles curated by Beer Director (and legendary beer guru) Greg Engert (also of Churchkey, BlueJacket), this is a mecca for the best of Belgian style brewing. It can be a bit intimidating with all these choices, but the best way to ease into it is during the happy hour. There are usually a couple of Belgian beers on draft, and at $4 it’s an easy way to try some less familiar suds.
Happy Hour at this neighborhood bar features drink specials with over 12 draft beers with a good mix of local and domestic brews. What I really like is their late night happy hour, when you can get a beer and nachos for $10 or a beer and burger for $15. Happy hour runs from 5-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and again late night 10-11 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
A relatively low key bar in the Brookland neighborhood brought to you by the folks behind Smith Commons, happy hour is every day from 5-7 p.m. and can be trusted for a good craft beer selection including some local favorites such as DC Brau and Atlas. Happy Hour beers go for $3 -$5.
Another fantastic neighborhood spot anytime but especially for happy hour, their large porch seating and excellent draft beer choices which go for $2 off during happy hour make it a great spot for a chill evening. Happy hour runs from 5-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and again from midnight to close. While you are there, try out the tempura cauliflower as well!
At the subterranean Crimson Whiskey Bar in the Pod hotel, happy hour is from 5-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5 p.m. –close on Sundays. Yes it’s a whiskey bar, but features a decent draft selection of local and domestic brews that are $2 off during this time. Plus, the space is GORGEOUS and is large, making it easy for bigger groups as well.
Succotash (Penn Quarter)
It does not seem like the kind of spot to have a killer beer happy hour, but it really does. Plus it runs from 3-7 p.m. every day which can’t really be beat. During happy hour, you’ll find a selection of local and domestic drafts and bottles for $5 -$6 at this classy Penn Quarter restaurant. Also, the pimento cheese with pork rinds is everything and you need to get it.
At this beer focused spot (Penn Quarter and Dupont locations), happy hour goes from 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and gives you $4 craft cans and $5 draft selections. The bar is spacious and really offers something for everyone, whatever your taste in beer is. Be warned, it’s a popular after work happy hour so can get crowded.
The happy hour at this seafood centric eatery offers $4 beers during happy hour, with a heavy focus on local drafts from D.C. and Maryland. You can find choices from popular spots such as Denizens Brewing (Silver Spring), Brewers Art (Baltimore), and more. Happy hour runs from 3-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and every night after 10 p.m.
At this sprawling hangout in Crystal City, the beer selection is pretty good and the happy hour specials are a good deal. There are a number of drafts and the $2 off makes from 3-7 p.m. Monday through Friday makes it a good spot to try in the neighborhood. There is plenty of seating and the rooftop patio when the weather is nice is perfect to enjoy a beer.
A popular bar for craft beer and arcade games, happy hour runs from 4-8 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and from 3-8 p.m. on Saturdays! They have a varied and extensive draft beer list, and $2 off all drafts puts you right in the $3 -$6 range for most selections. The helpful notes around what each beer tastes like makes it easy to pick something unfamiliar.
