They've given us Miracle on 7th Street, Cherry Blossom PUB and the Game of Thrones PUB, but after each of the Drink Company pop-up bars shutter we are left with only one thought: what's next?? There are always rumors (still looking at you and your dirty, dirty trick Mrs. Hayes!) and we'd heard inklings about this next one, but the team's next project was made official this morning and we are SO.PUMPED to see what they do with it.
Yes, that's right folks... hold on to your britches, because we are finally getting a horror-filled Halloween bar from The Drink Company! PUB DREAD is sure to terrorize and delight throughout all of October, as it runs from October 1 through October 31.
“For us, Halloween is the perfect foil to create a pop-up space--you’ve got horror, camp and pop-culture all wrapped in one season," said co-owner Derek Brown. "We’ve gone all out with this one and, from the decor to the drinks, I think Halloween heads are going to rejoice. Plus, you get to wear your costume 31 days this year, which is a total bonus.”
Per usual, PUB DREAD will take over the spaces of Mockingbird Hill, Southern Efficiency, and Eat the Rich with distinct themes in each space encompassing the staff's darkest fears. The Haunted Forest will feature everything that terrified you about the woods as a child (think watching eyes and creepy creatures) and soundtracks from classic horror films; The Dollhouse features "the most disturbing tribute to grandma's vintage toy collection with dolls that seem to have minds of their own," according to a press release; and The Crypt will be filled with tombstones, coffins and other odes to the dead -- enter at your own peril!
According to Washingtonian, there is a fourth space whose details cannot be revealed yet called "Spacebar" that will feature robots in same way.
Bar manager Paul Taylor has compiled 10 tipples for the drink menu at PUB DREAD, featuring concoctions such as BRAINS! served in a skull tiki mug to pay homage to Night of the Living Dead, with Alexandro Sherry Blend, Brandy De Jerez, Luxardo Maraschino, Cinnamon Grapefruit, Fig, Lime and topped with a candy brain.
“Halloween means candy, so we had to add a couple cocktails to the cauldron that represent the holiday," said Taylor.
So get working on those costumes girls and ghouls because you'll have ample opportunity to don them this October. Just make sure to incorporate comfy shoes in your attire as we all know the lines are sure to be spooky long!
