There's a new place in Georgetown for men to grab some undies

Growing up in Fredericksburg, Va. Nathan Lacey always had an appreciation for fashion. But, instead of pursuing his love for menswear, Lacey went on to college at the University of Virginia before getting his law degree at Georgetown. That is not what we would call the typical path to a career in fashion, but Lacey is anything but typical.

"After a while, I decided I wanted to work for myself," said Lacey. "I started working on a business plan and eventually rolled it out."

Lacey thought it would make sense to open up a store that offered items that weren't readily available elsewhere, a store that offered men a place to get undergarments that wasn't a department store. And thus, a place to dress your better half's bottom half, Trunk and Drawer, was born.

Trunk and Drawer is a man cave for underwear, loungewear, and sleepwear located in the heart of Georgetown.

"Georgetown is a place people converge to shop," said Lacey. "There are a good number of boutiques that cater to men and I think those are the type of men that would go into a store like mine."

Lacey likes to stress that underwear shopping is all about the options. "We feature nine different underwear brands, and therefore offer a much greater selection of materials, fits, styles and looks," explained Lacey. "We think we offer a greater selection than you will find in Calvin Klein or any underwear store for that matter."

According to Lacey, what a lot of people don't know is that men's underwear is the fastest growing market in men's fashion. And Lacey wants D.C. men to get in on the growing trend. "We hope to be able to educate men about their underwear," added Lacey.

Whether you are a man shopping for yourself, or you are shopping for your significant other, there will be an item of great quality waiting for you to buy at Trunk and Drawer.

So what is Lacey's one tip for men on underwear shopping?

"My best tip is to go for what's comfortable. It's the first thing you put on in the morning and the last thing you take off at night. The need for comfort is really essential."

Trunk and Drawer is located at 3109 M Street, NW. Washington, DC, 20007.
