The Poconos is a great place to enjoy some low-key days with nature and your favorite people. (Image: Julie Gallagher)
It's also a great place to bring your pup, as they will enjoy the hikes just as much as you do.{ }(Image: Julie Gallagher)
The Pocono Wine Trail is a system of seven wineries and vineyards in the Pocono Mountains. You can spend the day at just one, or check out a couple.{ }(Image: Julie Gallagher)

Many of the wineries and breweries in the Poconos will give you tours of their facilities, if you are interested in how their product is made and the story behind their openings. We visited Franklin Hill Vineyard when it wasn't particularly busy, so they just gave us a personal tour when we mentioned we'd like to go on one!{ }(Image: Julie Gallagher)

Social Still distillery is located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This micro-distillery is located in a prohibition-era bank. Enjoy spirits, good food and good vibes in this locally-owned spot.{ }(Image: Julie Gallagher)

Calling all hikers! The Appalachian Trail runs close to the Poconos, so you can easily hop on the trail for a day-hike, or spend the weekend on the trail{ } -- whatever floats your boat.{ }(Image: Julie Gallagher)
If you’re looking for a getaway that is full of relaxation, beautiful fall foliage and an unlimited number of low-key, fun things to do, hop in your car and head up to the Pocono Mountains this fall. It'll take you about 4 hours by car depending on your destination in the mountains (and the traffic getting out of D.C. on a Friday, of course) but it's well worth the trip.{ }(Image: Julie Gallagher)
The Poconos is probably most well-known for its skiing, as well as its abundance of things to do outdoors in general. Even though it’s not quite cold enough for winter sports, you can still embrace that fresh air and picturesque scenery. The mountains have great hiking trails for all skill levels - whether you are a novice looking for a peaceful stroll, such as here at Gouldsboro State Park.{ }(Image: Julie Gallagher)
The Poconos is the perfect place to head for the weekend if you have little ones with you. Spend the weekend at an indoor waterpark resort, such as Kalahari Resorts and Conventions or Great Wolf Lodge. You can really make a weekend out of both of these places alone - there are so many things to do beyond water slides! There are restaurants, shows, spas, activities and events going on frequently at both resorts. To be honest, I think these places could be just as fun without the kiddos!{ }(Image: Julie Gallagher)
